Merrimack Middle School Wrestling team competes
Merrimack Middle School Wrestling team competed in the 2018 NH Middle School “Meet of Champions” state tournament held at Kearsarge Regional Middle School on Sunday March 17th. The wrestling Hatchets placed 6th as a team out of 31 teams represented with individual results below.
Eighth grader Gavin Ross pinned his way to a NH State Middle School Championship with one of the fastest pins of the whole tournament at 9 seconds.
Owen Forrest, grade 7, earned 2nd place wrestling 5 matches in one of the deeper weight classes.
Seventh grader Anthony Almonte was 3-1 on the day with a 3rd place finish.
Hailey Rivet came in 6th place in the new Girls Division.
Gavin, Owen and Anthony have now qualified for Youth New England’s being held March 10th at St. Anselm College in Manchester
Mitchell Krupp 7th grade went 2-2 and was just one win shy from placing in the top 6. Seventh graders Austin Shea, Brendan Curley and Christian McCrady and Eighth grader A.J. Lesmerises all wrestled well on the day. Seventh grader Emily Angelo was out with injury but assisted at the tournament.
