Milford girls basketball takes down Souhegan
MILFORD 46,
SOUHEGAN 35
The visiting Spartans inched closer to a playoff berth by completing the season sweep of the Sabers with a 46-35 road win.
Milford’s Avery Fuller led her team with 14 points, nine of those coming in a critical fourth quarter where the Spartans outscored Souhegan 16-12. Spartan freshman point guard Lulu Maguire finished with 12 points, and junior captain Bailey Johnson chipped in with eight.
Claire Cote added six points with two 3-pointers, and Elliannana Nassy hit two key free throws in the final minute to secure the win.
For Souhegan, Caitlyn Cooper had a monster game, leading all scorers with 18 points.
MILFORD 40,
TIMBERLANE 34
Trailing 29-28 entering the fourth quarter, the visiting Spartans rallied to outscore the Owls 12-5 in the final stanza. Lulu Maguire scored 15 points to lead Milford, connecting on four 3-pointers.
Avery Fuller added 11 and Ellianna Nassy chipped in with four points, including two clutch free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
KENNETT 62, SOUHEGAN 27
Caitlin Cooper scored 15 points in the Sabers loss Hadley Cocoran collected five points.
MERRIMACK VALLEY 47, MILFORD 35
The Spartans hung with powerful MV for three quarters, trailing 31-27, but some untimely turnovers hurt Milford down the stretch.
Avery Fuller and Lulu Maguire, both freshmen, combined for 21 points while Caire Cote, Elianna Nassy and Kate Hansen had four points each. Julianna DaLuz and Keely Giordano played well defensively off the bench for the Spartans.
BOYS BASKETBALL
MANCHESTER WEST 65, MILFORD 61
Milford jumped out to a four point lead at the half, holding Manchester West leading scorer Aiden Scott-Beaupre to six points. However he erupted for 24 second half points to bring the Knights back.
He finished with 30 points while Caden Zalenski scored 16, Ryon Constable 14 and Chuck Urda 11 for the Spartans.
SOUHEGAN 73,

The Sabers (12-0) stayed perfect in dominant fashion as Nick Nowack led the offensive unit with 13 points, John McBride scored 11 with Keegan Burke and Joe Bernasconi tallying 10 each.
MILFORD 69,
JOHN STARK 45
The Spartans jumped out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter and took care of business the rest of the way against a winless John Stark team. Ryon Constable had a great performance tallying 32 points and Caden Zalenski had 12.
SOUHEGAN 53,
MANCHESTER WEST 37
Souhegan trailed 30-29 in the second half but the unbeaten Sabers finished the game with a 23-8 run to improve to 11-0.
Matt Canavan had 23 points and Joe Bernasconi 10 for the Sabers.
BOYS HOCKEY
NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 5, ALVIRNE-MILFORD 5 (OT)
Chase Devins scored the game-tying goal with just three seconds remaining for the Kings, and the two teams were scoreless in overtime.
For the Kings, who trailed 4-2 after two, Peter Gamache had a goal and two assists (including on the final goal), while Sean McCarthy, Brendan Milward and Colby Meehan also scored.
Matt Ryan had two goals and an assist to lead the Admirals. Brennan Levesque had a goal and an assist, while Sal Pace and Hayden Ricard also scored.
PORTS.-NEWMARKET 5, NORTH-SOUHEGAN 3
Will Dodge had two goals while Jacob Landry had a goal and two assists but the visiting Saber-Titans dropped to 1-7. Chase McBride and Fin Moran had an assist each.
INDOOR TRACK
In the boys meet at Hampshire Hills, Souhegan got a win from Tony Garrant in the 55-meter dash (6.94) and two wins from Wil Jacques in the high jump at 5-10, ahead of second-place teammate Jackson Steckbeack (5-4) , and tops in the shot put at 48-2.5. Carson Behn was second in the 300.
In the girls meet, Souhegan’s Emma Kennedy won the 300 in 45.34.
WRESTLING
MERRIMACK 51,
MILFORD 24
In a battle of local Division II rivals, Merrimack got pins by Even Torres at 120, Emily Angelo at 126, Mitchell Krupp at 138, Adam Cummings at 145, Cooper Carlson at 152, Bredan Curley at 172, and Aidan Ward at 195. The ‘Hawks’ Grant Descheneaux got a 13-9 decision at 132.
The Spartans had wins via pin by Bret Gagnon at 185, Ben Kilgore at 220 and Danny DeBarnardo at 285.
