Patricia Alice (Flanagan) Ryherd
Patricia Alice (Flanagan) Ryherd passed away in Nashua NH on June 14, 2018 at age 85. She was recently surrounded by her family at a reunion with her children and their spouses, Cathleen & Robert Glynn, Eric & Cindy Ryherd, Michael & Debra Ryherd and her six grandchildren Kayleigh, Garret, Sarah, Benjamin, Thomas, and Amy.
Pat was born in Kansas City Kansas on February 19, 1933. The daughter of Albert Flanagan and Elsie (Drane) Flanagan. She married Marvin Lee Ryherd on June 9, 1951 who predeceased her late last year. She completed two masters degrees.
Pat broke through many glass ceilings during her long career with the State of RI Vocational Rehabilitation while living in Barrington. A strong advocate of women’s rights, she negotiated to be treated as an equal while helping many handicapped and disadvantaged RI residents. Retiring at the age of 75 she held board positions with the Barrington garden and book clubs. She moved to Nashua in 2016 and continued to be active with the local garden and book clubs.
Pat enjoyed travelling and talking walks along the beach. She often spoke of her most enjoyable trip with her husband through Greece in the 1980s. She traveled through Europe and Egypt as well as riding a camel in the deserts of China, walking along the Great Wall and seeing the Terracotta Army.
A memorial will be held at the Lawrence Barn 28 Depot Rd Hollis NH on July 28th from 11am to 2pm. A light lunch will be provided. Friends are welcome to stop by and share their memories with the family. Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the Boston PBS channel WGBH or Hollis Library.
