Jo-Ann (Gravelle) Bonczar

Jo-Ann (Gravelle) Bonczar, born on December 26th, 1942, was called to her eternal home with Jesus on March 9th, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She passed at home, with her loving son, Michael P. Bonczar Jr. at her side.
Jo-Ann was raised in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, by John W. Gravelle and Annette (McGuire) Gravelle. Throughout her younger years, she was a dedicated member of 4-H Dairy and she graduated from Chelmsford High School, Class of 1960. Jo-Ann then relocated to Milford, N.H., where she raised her two children and spent 27 years of committed service to her community and local schools.
From 1976-1986, she worked as an EMT with the Milford Volunteer Ambulance Service. She was a long-time member of TOPS (Take Pounds Off Sensibly). In 2012, Jo-Ann moved to Swanzey N.H., where she became a devoted member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church. She retired from the American Red Cross Blood Service in 2013.
Jo-Ann held a great love for nature. She enjoyed active, outdoor adventures, such as hiking and kayaking, with her wonderful group of friends. She even summitted Mount Monadnock last summer, at the age of 81! Her sense of adventure is further demonstrated by the fact that she maintained her motorcycle and Class A CDL endorsements until the onset of her failing health, in 2024.
Jo-Ann is survived by daughter Lisa A. Biron, of Tallahassee FL., son Michael P. Bonczar Jr., of Keene, N.H., granddaughter Rachel Biron of Virginia Beach, VA., and grandson Miles P. Bonczar of Keene, N.H. She is also survived by a brother, Jim Gravelle, of Hilliard, OH. and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, in her honor, will be held at 10:00 AM at Christian Life Fellowship church, 211 Whitcomb Road, Swanzey, N.H., on April 12th, 2025. Reception to follow.
