Alan Dodge Beede
Alan Dodge Beede, 85, died on October 28, 2024 at Rochester Manor in Rochester, NH. He was born on January 12, 1939 in Williamsport, PA. Alan was adopted as an infant by the late Frank Beede and Ruth Dodge Beede and was raised in Larchmont, NY. He was the husband of the late Sondra Decker Beede. They were married on December 28, 1960 in Highland Park, NJ. Alan was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, NY where he played varsity football. He was a 1961 graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI, where he received a BA in Mathematics. He was a proud Staff Sargeant with the US Army Reserves. His career began with Reader’s Digest in Mt. Kisco, NY, and eventually led him to work in technology with Honeywell, Bull HN, and Accenture. He loved being on the ocean and enjoyed time spent sailing and deep-sea fishing. He was a volunteer docent at the New Hampshire Sea Coast Science Center at Odiorne State Park. Alan was also an avid antique collector. Alan is survived by his daughter, Susan Carpenter and her husband, John Scott of New York City; his son, John Beede of Strafford, NH; his grandchildren, Alexander and Ethan Carpenter of Alexandria, VA and Eli and Nathaniel Beede of Strafford, NH; his half-sister, Ginny Rogers, of Williamsport, PA; his half-brothers, Robert Hunter of Hoover, AL and John Hunter of Baltimore, MD; as well as many nieces and nephews.
