Raymond “Ray” Hill Sr.

Raymond “Ray” Hill Sr., 83 of Fort Collins, Colorado formerly of Milford, New Hampshire passed away on October 17, 2024.

Ray was born in South Kingston, Rhode Island on Nov. 5, 1940 to Joe & Madeline Hill.

In March 1959 dad enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his Country for 26 years and achieved the highest enlisted rank of CMSGT (Chief Master Sergeant. While in the USAF, dad was stationed in West Germany, Taiwan & Greenland (before marriage).

On October 9, 1965 Ray married the love of his life, Sandy in Wareham, Massachusetts after they met on a blind date set up by one of Sandy’s co-workers, whose husband was also in the Air Force.

Of this Union, they had 2 children, Stephanie & Raymond, Jr.

Dad separated from the Air Force in June 1985 while stationed at Nellis, Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Thunderbirds flew over his ceremony that day. Dad stood proud. And as a family, we stood with him, proud of all he had accomplished.

Dad had earned his Bachelor’s & later his Master’s of Business Administration by going to night school while serving his Country.

After dad separated from the Air Force in 1985, the family moved back to New England as that is home. Dad became a civilian contractor for the Air Force based out of Hanscom AFB, in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Dad & mom bought their first home & settled in the community of Milford, New Hampshire.

It was here that dad became a part of the community & what he called home.

He was a longtime member of the Milford Lions Club, holding many different positions including District Governor.

He was also a longtime member of the American Legion Bent-Burke Post #10, Wilton where he also held many different positions but I think being on the Honor Guard was special to him. He truly loved to do that until health issues dictated otherwise.

We will miss him, but take some comfort in knowing that he is with mom & his family.

Love you dad. Love you lots. Love you more.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife Sandy (November 26, 2023), his parents & 2 nephews.

He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Stephanie (Hill) & Mike Marshall of Greeley, Colorado & son & daughter-in-law, Raymond & Cathy Hill of Martinsburg, West Virginia, 2 brothers, several nieces, great nephew & and many cousins.

We would like to thank Aspens Memory Care for their help in dad’s journey, Bristol Hospice for their support, guidance and dedication during the most difficult times.

Cremation has taken place. We are planning to inurn our parents on what would be their 60th anniversary, Oct. 9, 2025, at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire at 1:00pm

Dad loved animals and he so enjoyed his visit to the Colorado wolf sanctuary I volunteer at and enjoyed the pictures of the wolves & wolf-dogs in which I work with and would send often. We ask that if you feel inclined, please send donations to your local Humane Society, Wolfsanctuary.co (.co is correct) or rrh-project.com (Red Riding Hood in Ohio). I volunteer there twice/year.
