Ronald P. White

Ronald P. White, 88, former longtime resident of Amherst, NH, and later Plymouth, MA died on June 21, 2024, at the Bridges by Epoch, Westford, MA, after a period of declining health.

He was born on April 19, 1936, in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Howard and Genevieve (Lavigne) White.

Ronald was raised and educated in Westport, MA, graduating from Westport High School. He was president of his class and was proud to play a championship basketball game for his high school at the old Boston Garden while there. He then received his bachelor’s in science and master’s in science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University where he was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society. He later attended Graduate courses at Brown University, Trinity College, and University of Rhode Island. He was a member of the Army ROTC program while attending Northeastern. He later joined the Army Signal Corps where he attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He continued his desire to support the armed forces by having a distinguish career in developing state of the art technology in underwater countermeasures. He obtained several patents for the development of transducers and sonar buoys.

He worked for many years at Sanders Associates, Hazeltine Corporation, Raytheon ASW Division and the Navy Underwater Sound Laboratory.

He married Desiree Marie (Reynolds) and together made their home in Amherst, NH, for many years. He loved to sing and joined the church choir at St. Patrick’s Church.

Ronald was the most kind, selfless and generous man devoted to and dearly loved by his family, extended family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife Desiree for 58 years. Ronald was a man of strong faith. He loved to be near the ocean, fishing, lobstering, clamming, boating, entertaining, skiing and world traveling.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his loving wife, Desiree Marie White, Brother & Sister-in-law, Howard and Helene White, Lawrence and Joan Reynolds, Stanley & Marcia Ward and nephew Russell Ward.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jeff Kiszla of Hopkinton, MA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald R. White of Hudson, MA, Darrin and Anne Marie White of Hollis, NH; five grandchildren, Jessica Hudson, Justin deMontigny and his wife, Kelsey, and Elise, Matthew and Carolyn Kiszla; six great grandchildren, Madison, Brody, and Brielle Hudson, and Dorothy, Penelope and Teddy deMontigny, and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH 03055. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the St. Patrick Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Amherst, NH.
