Alwyn Charles Carleton
Alwyn Charles Carleton, aged 83, of Mont Vernon died at home on February 26, 2019. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY April 11, 1935, the son of Alwin and Jennie (Bell) Carleton. He was married to Eloise Sleeper Carleton for 56 years. He was predeceased by his parents and his half siblings Vernon Carleton, Virginia Ricker, and Floyd Farnsworth. He leaves his wife Eloise and his two daughters and their families, Cheryl and Bob Bragdon of Mont Vernon and Linda and James Henderson of Mont Vernon and 4 grandchildren Alex and Cassie Bragdon and Jace and Cole Henderson. He also leaves a brother A. Richard Carleton and his wife Marilynn, a half-sister Velma Hayes and Brother-in-law Wayne Sleeper and his wife Brenda. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews and more friends than we could count. He lived most of his life on his ancestral farm in Mont Vernon. He graduated from Milford High School in 1954 and worked at Draper Chevrolet in Wilton for 29 years as an auto mechanic and then he worked from his front yard. Al enjoyed life, hunting, fishing, working on Chevrolets, collecting friends and guns, and he loved a great story.
SERVICES: At his request there will be no formal service however, please drop by on Sunday, March 24 between 1:30 and 4:30 at the Mont Vernon Fire station for a celebration of his life and to continue the stories. In lieu of flowers please do random acts of kindness in his memory.
