John T. McDonald Jr.
John T. "Jack" McDonald, Jr., 78, long time resident of Milford, NH, died peacefully at his home in Greenville, NH on November 22, 2016, surrounded by family.
He was born in Providence, RI on August 21, 1938, a son of John T. and Elizabeth (Conroy) McDonald. He graduated from St. Raphael Academy and attended the University of Rhode Island for 2 years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was trained in information systems. He was stationed in France, where the 1st of his 5 children was born. Following his discharge in 1962, he was employed in the Data Processing Department of Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA. In 1964, he was recruited by Hitchiner Manufacturing Company and retired in 2001 as Director of Information Systems. While working, he attended New Hampshire College graduating in 1979.
He played hockey, baseball and ran track in high school. He was active in the MCAA coaching hockey and umpiring baseball. He loved to play golf. He most especially loved his family and treasured the time spent with them.
Mr. McDonald was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Jaffrey, NH. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3035 where he catered functions and volunteered at bingo nights.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris M. (Leedham) McDonald, a daughter, Kelly McDonald Ost and a sister, Marilyn Gallagher.
Family members include his wife, Linda (McReavy) McDonald of Greenville, NH; a daughter and three sons, Shawn Quinn and her husband, Michael of Milford, NH, John McDonald III and his wife, Mary of Cumberland, ME, Scott McDonald and his wife, Valerie of Bedford NH, and Justin McDonald, and his wife, Carole of Boscawen, NH; three stepsons, Maury Grugnale of Ballston Spa, NY, Timothy Grugnale of Greenville, NH and Dominic Grugnale of Hampton, NH; 20 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and George Moriarty.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3rd at 11 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 87 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH. Followed by a reception at the Woodbound Inn, Rindge, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Share Outreach, 1 Columbus Ave., Milford, NH 03055.
