Joan (Lewis) Wiggin
Joan (Lewis) Wiggin, 82, of Bedford died April 17, 2017 peacefully at her residence.
Born in Boston, MA on July 29, 1934, she was the daughter of Frank and Margaret Lewis. She was raised in Boston and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, MA and Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett in 1955.
She married George T. Wiggin Jr. on October 23, 1955.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1991, her son George T. Wiggin III in 2016 and siblings Frank, Eugene and Ann.
She is survived by four daughters and their families. Patti Silva and husband Michael, Joanne Perreault and husband Dennis, Robyn Lee Wiggin and Matt Leary, and Jennifer Young and husband Bob. Nine grandchildren Lauren and Sarah Perreault, Katie & Frank Lucisano, Annie Silva, Angela and Johanna Celli, Buddy, Teigue and Rylee Young, and Joan’s brother George Lewis and sisters-in-law Theresa and Martha Lewis.
Joan taught kindergarten for 25 years at Hallsville School in Manchester. While teaching she was very active in the Manchester Education Association, NEA-NH and NEA. She lived in Bedford NH until she moved to Sarasota Florida for many years. Joan lived in Amherst for five years until recently returning to Bedford, NH.
She enjoyed cheering on her Red Sox and Patriots, her Irish heritage, spending time with her family, and especially her nine grandchildren.
Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford. Burial will follow in Bedford Center Cemetery.
