Wild Salamander to host artist’s ‘Dueling Landscapes’

HOLLIS – The Whitty Gallery at Wild Salamander Creative Arts Center will be featuring the work of oil painter Stephen Previte in a solo exhibition “Dueling Landscapes – Traditional vs. Industrial” during April. The exhibition, which opens April 7, will feature a collection of traditional landscape subjects, along with new paintings on paper that will feature urban and industrial themes.

Gallery owner KC Morgan says, “We’re excited to host this show. Steve is well known locally, and this exhibition will allow the community to see a whole new direction in his work, alongside his more traditional landscapes.”.

Stephen’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited throughout New England and New York, including The Currier Museum of Art and Whistler House Museum of Art He works with the medium of oil paint in a style that he describes as “Representational Impressionism.” The signature of his work is his attention to light and atmosphere.

Previte says he is “looking forward to sharing the contrasting terms of his subject matter and to seeing where their taste lies.” The exhibition runs from Saturday, April 1, through Saturday, April 22, with an opening gallery reception on Friday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
