Local students to compete in 3rd annual Idol competition
Thirteen high school vocalists from the greater Manchester area will compete in this year’s Regional Idol Scholarship Competition.
These students were chosen from applications submitted in September to the Rotary Club of Bedford. The students have been working with the producer, Edward Bordeleau, and his sister and musical director, Jan Bordeleau, to prepare their performances for this show.
The four finalists in this year’s show will be awarded scholarships ranging from $200 to $1,000.
The students performing in this year’s event are:
? Elizabeth Cote, of Hooksett, a freshman at Manchester Central High School
? Annie Steenson, of Danville, a junior at Timberlane Regional High School
? Danny McMillan, of Manchester, a senior at Manchester West High School
? Alivia Flowers, of Manchester, a freshman at Manchester Central High School
? Kristopher Schooner, of Manchester, a senior at Manchester Memorial High School
? Victoria Fatukasi, of Manchester, a sophomore at Trinity High School
? Katie Riley, of Merrimack, a junior at Trinity High School
Nick Page, of Hollis, a senior at Bishop Guertin High School
? Christine Lee, of Bedford, a junior at Bedford High School
? Jacob Tilton, of Manchester, a junior at Manchester West High School
? Julia Steer, of Raymond, a senior at Trinity High School
? Corinne Berntsen, of Bedford, a junior at Bedford High School
? Nakahla Jennings, of Concord, a senior at National Connections Academy
Three judges will critiquing the performances. The judges are area professionals – performers and teachers familiar with vocal performance.
This year’s judges are Dorothy Stratton, Marlena Phillips and Adam Boroskas.
Each contestant will appear on stage and perform one song, after which the three judges will critique the performance.
At intermission, the judges will select the four best performers, who will appear after intermission to present another song. After they have finished, the audience will cast ballots for their favorite performer. The winning order of finalists will be determined by audience vote.
The competition will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Dana Center at Saint Anselm College in Manchester.
